Frank Dolphus Hayes, Sr. was born in Greensboro, February 3, 1933, to Rebecca Milling Hayes and Odell Frank Hayes, Sr.  He died July 4, 2024, at age 91.

Frank attended Greensboro Public Schools and earned a GED while in the United States Army, during the late 1950's.

In July 1960, Frank married Ethel Maerose Alston and they raised 3 sons and a daughter.  Back in the day he ran a joint called the 'Bucket of Blood'.  His real job was being the owner and operator of Hayes Auto Beauty Shop on Red Road, now West Wendover.  He also followed his dad's love of building willow furniture.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Elizabeth Redd & Virginia Morehead, and brothers, Abssyina & Odell Hayes.

Those left to survive him are his wife of 64 years, Ethel; son, Frank Jr. (Carolyn); son, June; daughter, Camela; and son, Henry (Cassundra).  Also are his beloved grandchildren, Elisher Clark (Tarnez), Frank, III (Maggie), Mykiyah, Cameron White, Mylaziah, three great-grandchildren, Jason & Rose Hayes and Charlotte Clark, along with two sisters, Evelyn Harris & Viteria Jackson.

Public viewing of Mr. Hayes is 12:30 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. Monday the 08th in Hargett Funeral Service, 905 East Market Street, Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family and funeral service are 11:00 a.m. and 12 noon respectively on Tuesday, July 09, 2024 in Love & Faith Christian Fellowship, 4344 Blackberry Road Greensboro, NC. Interment will take place in Salisbury National Cemetery  11:00 a.m. Thursday July 11, 2024.
