Frank Roger Crews was born May 2, 1926 in Oak Ridge, NC to the late Ned and Alice Crews. He departed this life on May 4, 2016 after a brief illness.
At a young age, the family moved to Greensboro, NC where he attended Greensboro Public Schools. He attended Dudley High School where he was a star athlete in football and basketball. He attended North Carolina A&T State University where he excelled in academics and sports.
After college, Frank enlisted in the Army and became a veteran of the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he was employed by the United Postal Service for 23 years and became a supervisor. He entered his 2nd career at Dobbs international as a supervisor and after 22 years he retired.
Frank was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Inc. He loved his family, a good sporting event, and an even better story.
Franks is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Delores Crews; two sons, LC Crews of Greensboro and Roger Crews (Nicole) of Texas; sister, Brenda; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1301 Alamance Church Road, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 1:00 pm followed by the service at 1:30 pm.
Interment will follow on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Salisbury National Park.
