Forestina Mitchell was born on August 9, 1954 to the late Doris Lucille Mitchell in Greensboro, North Carolina. Forestina known as "Tina" by many, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Tina's walk with the Lord began at an early age. She was a member of Reid Memorial CME for many years, where she served on the usher board, missionary, praise dance team, and she served as chair of the church kitchen committee. Her service was selfless and not self-centered. She serviced with humility and enjoyed using her food service talents and experience to glorify God. She took great pride serving in all capacities for many years. Later she joined Soul House Christian Fellowship until her homegoing and she served on many auxiliaries.
Tina attended Greensboro City Schools where she graduated form James Benson Dudley High School in 1972. Upon graduation, Tina attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University for two years. She received her certification as a CNA from Guilford Technical Community College.
While building family bonds at home, Tina was very active in the community. She was employed by Sodexo for twenty-three years at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and ten years at Bennett College in Food Services until her passing.
Tina was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Lucille Mitchell and son, Mario Mitchell.
Tina is survived by her daughter, Melanie Doris Mitchell; son, Michael Jerome Mitchell; brother, James Edward Mitchell; grandson, Shamar Crosby; aunts, Barbara Greene and Hortense "Gail" Richmond; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 East Market Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:15 a.m., followed by the service at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, 235 Bingham Street. Hargett Funeral Service is assisting the family.
