September 5, 1929 – April 10, 2019
Mr. Felix Jesse Wilder, 89, of West Dunbar, passed away peacefully at Beacon Place (Hospice), Greensboro, N.C., on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
Felix was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from Greyhound Bus Lines following 38 years of service. He was a graduate of Garnet High School, Charleston. Felix also served in the United States Army where he achieved numerous honors and recognitions.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Louise Wilder; parents, George Sr. and Mattie B. Wilder; and three brothers, Roosevelt, Robert and George Jr.
Felix is survived by his daughter, Felicia (Tony) Staton of Greensboro, N.C.; step-son, Michael (Vikki) Bayes of Charleston; nephews, Wayne (Deloris) Wilder of West Dunbar and Steve (Christina) Wilder of St. Albans; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; caregivers, Cynthia Grant and Ex-Thail Lee; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1530 3rd Avenue, Charleston, with the Rev. Braxton Broady officiating. Family will receive visitors and friends at 11 a.m. at the church. Viewing was held in Greensboro on Monday, April 15, at Hargett Funeral Services.
Preston Funeral Home Inc. of Charleston, W.Va., and Hargett Funeral Services of Greensboro, N.C., are assisting the family.
