Obituary

Eunice R. Laughinghouse Williams Walden was born January 30, 1938 in St. Peters, NC outside the city of Greenville. She was the thirteenth of nineteen children from the union of the late Charlie Laughinghouse and Esther Sneed.

Eunice moved to Brooklyn, New York after marrying Wiley R. Williams (deceased). She later married Floyd Walden (deceased) and moved to Greensboro, NC.

Eunice’s early employment was with the Waldorf Astoria in NYC. She later worked with the United States Postal Service in NYC then transferred to Greensboro. She worked at the post office for 35 years until retirement. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in associated body of Freemasonry of Prince Hall Lodge.

Eunice played softball with a work team in New York. She loved music, playing cards, cooking, shopping, and outings with her sisters, daughter, and granddaughter. Her favorite activities were anything that involved being with family such as cookouts, yearly family reunions, and family vacations.

On Saturday June 13, 2026, Eunice left this life after being ill for several years. She fought a good fight and her battle was won. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Floyd Walden, both parents, Esther and Charlie Laughinghouse, paternal grandparents, Mary and Edward Laughinghouse, and maternal grandparents, William and Mollie Eaton Sneed. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Esther (Santiago “Jimmy”), Annie (Leroy), Mary (Wright), Arlethia (Burlee), Charlie (Gloria and Matilda), Dallas (William “Billy”), Rene, David Earl, Willie Lee, Bernice, Nellarei, Reba (James), Rubelle (Chapman), Pattie (Elmer), and Barbara (Clayton).

Eunice leaves the following loving family members to celebrate her life. Sons: Jeffrey Williams, Moneek Williams, Kenya Walden (Nikki), and Floyd “Dashawn” Walden (Shana). Daughters: Tina Williams (Lagrand), Janice Crump, and Dallas “Ramona” Williams McCrimmon (George). Grandchildren: Jeffrey “Bebo”, Zakim, Tanika, Jessica, Wilson, Reid, Raheim, Moneek Shamel, Nabar, Jada, Ryan, Shawn, Andrea, Journey, Sadia, Aaron, Anthonette, Tav’e, Kevone, Kristin, Alexis, Aja, Dashawn, DaShaunna “Dáviane”, Byron, Rushana, Elynn, Ezra, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great great children.

Eunice leaves her loving sisters: Elder Shelia Yappow, Joanne (Charles) Sherrod, and Janice Rice, as well as sisters-in-law Pearl Young and Rita Marsh.

Eunice, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a woman who embraced life with enthusiasm and found her greatest joy in the company of those she held dear.

A homegoing celebration will be held Friday June 26, 2026 at St. James Baptist Church 536 W Florida St Greensboro, NC 27406. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
