Erma was born in Greenville, SC on October 10, 1949. She later moved to Greensboro, NC with her family where she and twin sister, Elaine completed their schooling. Erma spent most of her adult years in Winston Salem, NC where she devoted much of her life to service of others as she continued to volunteer, working with those who were less fortunate. As the daughter of an entrepreneur, she ran a small snack store from her home to serve her community. Erma was known for her kind heart and love for people as she always had a warm, welcoming smile.

Miss Bennett leaves in her memory, siblings: Wilton Bennett Jr. (Rosa) Flint, MI; Ernestine Bennett, Atlanta, GA; twin sister, Elaine Bennett, Greensboro, NC; Aunt Edna Williams. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dororthy and Doris Bennett, her parents Wilton Sr. and Bernice Bennett.

The family would like to thank special friend Paulis Purvis and the staff of Piney Grove nursing home and rehab center for their extensive care of Erma.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.
