On Saturday, September 30 at 10:20 am our lovely mother departed this life. The Angel took a wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, sister, relative, and friend. She was the daughter of Dora Swann Smith and Grant Smith. She was the 2nd child of 12 children born on September 26, 1924 in Person County, NC.

Emily married Jesse L. Morrison on May 28, 1955. She was the mother of 7 children and had 4 stepchildren; 2 which preceded her in death.
She retired from the City of Greensboro/Coliseum in 1991 after 18 years of service.

At an early age, she joined Allen Chapel Baptist in Caswell County; then later joined Gethsemane Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC where she attended until her death and was an active member. She served on the Senior Choir, Missionary, and Floral Club.

She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Dr. Larry Jr. Smith (Gwen), Mary E. Winstead (Charlie/deceased), Dennis J. Morrison (Willa), Hazeline Morrison, Leagrand Morrison, Dora M. Collins and Malinda A. Williams (Clinton); stepsons, Robert L. Morrison (Althene) and Ronald Morrison; special daughter, Brenda S. Morrison; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 3701 Heath Street, Greensboro. Visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
