IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Ann
Lewis Anderson
January 1, 1940 – July 18, 2024
Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Anderson was born January 1, 1940 and departed this life on July 18, 2024. She was the eighth child of the late George Henry and Lottie Marie Lewis of Glasgow, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Billy Goodman, George William, Daniel Clifton (Bobbie) Lewis, and Joe Lewis; three sisters: Henri Marie Travis, Louise Rebecca Bard, and Mary Imogene Lewis; one grandson, Omarr Rashene Anderson; and one great granddaughter, Gabriella Carr.
She attended Ralph Bunche High School, Kentucky State University (KSU), and Glasgow School of Nursing and University of New York EDP (now Excelsior University). She grew up attending Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Glasgow, KY until she, her husband, and children relocated to Pontiac, MI. She united with the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she served for 20 years and always gave much credit to the late Dr. Johnny West for his teachings that helped her grow in the knowledge and love for Jesus Christ.
She retired from Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in 1998 and relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia where she united with Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She always considered her relationship with Jesus Christ as the best thing that ever happened to her. She loved the fact that she was able to unite with churches and grow her knowledge of who Jesus is and His care and love for each one of us.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Lydia Ann Davis; two sons: Randall Darnell (Bonita) Anderson and Reginald Todd (Melanie) Anderson; five grandsons: Jeremy White, Marcus Davis, Jamal Anderson, Reginald Anderson Jr, and Nicholas Anderson; four granddaughters: Ranita Dawkins (James), Rashonda Anderson, Lydia Anderson, and Tatyanna Anderson, and an honorary granddaughter, Brianca Hodges; six great grand-daughters: Maniyah Anderson-Bowser, Zoe Davis, Elizabeth White, Zaryah White, Amorah Brown, and Nija Soleia Dawkins, and four great grandsons: Deshawn Fennell, Dante Fennell, Jadyn White, and Marcus Davis Jr.; and two siblings Perry Lewis and Jerrye Sturdivant.
Also sharing in her memory are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who loved her very much.
She always shared the words of the late Reverend Jessy Dixon when he was asked what he wanted to be remembered for and his response was: "that I am redeemed." She too wanted all to know that she was redeemed.
Her mother gave her a verse to live by that she tried to keep in mind: "He has shown you, O mortal what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God," Micah 6:8.
Favorite songs: "Old Rugged Cross," "Did I Do All I Could in the Time That You Gave Me," "I Am Redeemed," and "Grace and Mercy."
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 168 Prospect Street, Pontiac, MI at 1:00 pm.
