Mr. Edward Nevern Shelton, lovingly known as Bun/Uncle Bun/and Ed, the son of the late Burl E.W. Shelton and Mildred Martin Shelton was born November 4, 1936 in Ashland, West Virginia.  He peacefully transitioned from this Earthly life August 22, 2021 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham, NC surrounded by his loving daughters:  Tavondia Denise Burdett of Greenville, NC, Fraun Daneilia Pierson of Atlanta, GA, Monica Yvonne Stan of Jacksonville, FL, Monique Yvette Killian (Joshua) of Vandenberg AFB, CA.

After graduation from James B. Dudley High School in 1954, Bun joined the U.S. Air Force.  In 1958, he transferred to the U.S. Army where he served 26 more years to include tours in Vietnam, the Dominican Republic, and Korea.  He retired as a 1 ^st Sergeant.

Bun loved the Lord and was a faithful servant.  He was baptized at the Southside Church of Christ in Durham, NC August 24, 1997 where he fellowshipped, drove the choir bus and assisted whenever needed. In recent years he found his spiritual forever home at Sharpe Road Church of Christ.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Mildred Shelton and his siblings, Ramona Hall, Willie "Bubba" Shelton, Thomas Shelton, and Rochella Shaw.

In addition to his daughters and son-in-law, he leaves to cherish his memories to his brothers, Talmadge Shelton (Cynthia) and Melvin Shelton; granddaughter, Samantha; grandsons, Iulian, Nicolae, Alexandru, Michael, and Ioan; great granddaughter, Annabelle; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, military family, and Sharpe Road Church of Christ family.

A public viewing will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Sharpe Road Church of Christ, 2400 Sharpe Road, Greensboro.  Visitation with the family begins at 10:00 am followed by the service at 10:30 am.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
