Durand Lamont Dulin, son of the late Freddie Q. Dulin and the late Mae Evelyn Walker, was born on November 20, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland where he spent most of his childhood.
He graduated from Terry J. Sanford High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1972 and later made Greensboro his home, where he worked for many years at Will's Bookstore. While working there as one of the warehouse supervisors, he fell in love and met the woman he would marry.
On July 19, 1986 he married Jeanne Hall Haygood. A celebration was in order when their daughter, Jasmine Nichole (Nikki) was born – truly a daddy's girl. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Affectionately known as "Punchy" to his family, and "Dulin" professionally, he was a kind, gentle soul who spoke softly but carried a big stick- he said what he meant and meant what he said. His brothers and sisters looked up to him with much love and respect.
Professionally, Durand worked in law enforcement beginning as a member of the NC A&T State University Campus Police. Wanting to further his career, he completed the North Carolina Justice Academy which allowed him to work for 19 years with the Guilford County Sheriff's Department.
He leaves precious memories to be shared and remembered by his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Nikki (Stink); sisters, Fredda Durham of Baltimore Maryland, Precious Lee (Lonnie) of Lansing, Michigan, and Shellae Ross (Rodney) of Greensboro, North Carolina; brothers, Freddie Dulin, Jr. (Crystal) of Baltimore , Maryland and Jeffrey Walker of Dalzell, South Carolina; mother-in-law, Lettie Hall; step-parents, Lynwood and Alice Walker of Durham, North Carolina; step-mother, Veronica Dulin of Baltimore, MD; loving nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. James Baptist Church, 536 W. Florida Street, Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family begins at 11:00 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
