IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duncan Eric
Ravenell
February 2, 1960 – May 26, 2024
Duncan Eric Ravenell was born February 2, 1960 in Greensboro, NC to the late Joe Nathan Ravenell and Doris Hughes Ravenell. He received his heavenly wings on May 26, 2024 in Greensboro, NC.
He was educated in the Greensboro Public Schools and was a gifted tennis player at Ben L. Smith High School.
Duncan worked at Golden State Foods as a baker for several years. He eventually started working for IASTE Local as a stage handler at the Greensboro Coliseum. He set up stages and operated lighting for music concerts, plays, wrestling matches and the Greensboro Symphony to name a few. He had an incredible collection of t-shirts from these events. He worked there until his health declined.
He was an exceptional grill master known for his spareribs which fell off the bone every time but also known for his lasagna, homemade vegetable soup, and chicken wings.
Duncan loved music especially Diana Ross. He had a 24 x 36 poster of her. He was a big fan of Adele, Lenny Kravitz and Michael Jackson. At a party one night, he led the entire crowd in the Thriller video dance moves.
When it came to the Carolina Tar Heels and the Dallas Cowboys no comparison!
He was witty, had a great sense of humor and was very charismatic.
Duncan was preceded in death by his wife, Aleta Bradford; brother, Jonathan; and cousin-brother, Mike Pressley.
He leaves to cherish his memories his sisters, Andrea, Lorraine, Chandra and cousin-sister, Carol Waddell all of Greensboro, NC and Patricia Wiseman of Winston-Salem NC; nieces, Dr. Juana Mendenhall (Angel) of Sandy Springs, GA, Erica Patton (Renita) of Marietta , GA and Demetria Ravenell of Greensboro, NC; nephews, Mintrel Abney (Gail) and Corey Ravenell (Montasia) both of Greensboro NC; aunts, Elizabeth Wooden of Greensboro, NC and Earnestine Haizlip (Joe) of Chesapeake, VA; uncle, Marion McClary, Sr. of Teaneck, NJ; and a host of cousins, other relatives, his Terra Cotta family, and many, many friends.
