Dorothy Mae Smoot, 89,  went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020.  She was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Smoot and Helen Jones Smoot. Dorothy retired from UNCG and Jefferson-Pilot, now Lincoln Financial.  She was a member of United Institutional Baptist Church in Greensboro, NC. She attended school at Laurinburg Institute in Laurinburg, NC. She is survived by her nieces Lynn Cherry Swann (Spencer) and Sylvia Cherry both of Greensboro. There will be a public viewing on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 12:00 pm -5:00 pm Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro.  The service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Hargett Funeral Home Chapel.
