IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donna Marie
Maclin
June 6, 1959 – March 5, 2022
Mrs. Donna Marie Maclin was born June 9,1959 at Fort Eustis, Virginia to the late Charles E. Gallion, USMC, Retired, and Mrs. Clarissa V. Gallion and received her crown for glory on March 5, 2022 in Aurora, Colorado.
She was educated in the Maryland Public School System and graduated from Fairmont Heights High School. She obtained an Associate degree in Finance from University of Phoenix in Arizona and began her business career as a vault cashier at the Isle of Capri Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. Next, she worked as a GS-4 casher in the commissary at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. She moved to Aurora, Colorado with her family, and continued her career as a Cashier Supervisor at Buckley AFB Commissary. From there, she retired from the Veteran's Administration with nearly 20 years of active federal service as a Voucher Examiner.
Her favorite interests were cooking and sewing because the welfare of her family was a top priority. She was a maestro in the kitchen and created many delicious meals with very little effort. She favored Italian and Asian cuisine, so much that she made homemade Sushi and Lumpier. One of her happier memories was meeting her mentor, Lidia Bastianich, of Lidia's Italian Kitchen on PBS. She treasured the autographed cookbook she received at a public signing on a special date night with her husband. Donna never knew a stranger. Within five minutes of meeting her, you learned how much she loved her kids, her dog Cody, and every detail of what her grandkids, Blake Charles and Layla Marie, were up to. There wasn't one person she met that didn't love her instantly! It was her infectious and compassionate spirit that made her special and unique.
She was first baptized at Full Gospel Baptist Church of Hyattsville, MD, Jerome Fluelling, Pastor. Due to her prevailing health issues, she faithfully attended Grace Revolution Church Online, Joseph Prince Pastor, partnering with them for the spread of the Gospel. Her faith was deep and her spiritual relationship with her heavenly Father unwavering. She was faithful even unto the very end.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. Gallion, USMC, Retired and brother, Keith Gallion, Hyattsville, MD.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Clifford O. Maclin, USAF, Retired. Her daughter, Angelica M. Mendenhall of Atlanta, GA, (Dr. Juana Mendenhall); son, Brian C. Maclin of Chesapeake, VA, (Alyssa Maclin); grandchildren, Blake Charles and Layla Marie Mendenhall; mother, Clarissa V. Gallion, Reidsville, NC; sisters, Charmaine Neal (Fred G. Neal) and Dorie M. Gallion; nieces, Charise Neal, Aaliyah Gallion and Destiny May of Wilson, NC.; nephew, Franco Neal of Reidsville, NC; especially close to her was her 90+ years Great Aunt Margaret Hemphill; lifelong friends, Karen Farry, of Biloxi, MS, Sheila Karner of Tulsa, OK, Sarah Gottschalk, of W e t o m k a , AL and Carol Ortolano of Ocean Springs, MS; and a host of many cousins, other relatives and many friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 18 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, March 19 in Zion Baptist Church, 807 Piedmont Street, Reidsville, NC.
