Donald "Don" Redbarry Hoover was born February 8, 1944 to the late Clark Lovette Hoover and Katie Hines Hoover in Dry Creek, NC. He was one of six children.
Don worked 18 years as a truck driver for Southern Meters. He went on to work at Newman Machinery where he retired in 2009. Don had a passion for fishing, going everyday if possible. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a very simple man who loved the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Tarheels. Many will remember him as a true and loyal friend who was thankful for the little things in life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Hoover Warren; ex-wife, Josie Surles Hoover; and daughter, Donna Hoover Person.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory 2 sons, Donald Gerard Hoover (Erica), Raynard Levette Hoover (LaTarsha); 4 daughters, Theresa Enid Hoover (Cedric 2020), Naomi Kay Hairston (Kenneth), Samantha Hoover Peay, and Crystal Trumil DeBerry; 2 brothers, Reginald Hoover (Evelyn) and Wyatt Hoover; 2 sisters, Ina Hines and Cynthia Hoover; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 best friends, George Isabell and Jimmy Kelly; and a host of family & friends.
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 12-5 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 12:00 pm.
