Denise Nichole Meadors Cheek, 39, of McLeansville, North Carolina, a true angel entered eternity on Saturday, May 31, 2025. A brilliant mind, devoted wife, loving daughter, and inspiring leader, Denise's quiet spirit and unwavering dedication to family, education, and community will never be forgotten.
Denise graduated as valedictorian of James B. Dudley High School in 2004 and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, graduating with honors — a testament to her discipline, intelligence, and commitment to excellence at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
An active and passionate supporter of her alma mater, Denise served as President of the James B. Dudley Alumni Association, where she worked tirelessly to uplift students and honor the school's legacy all while working for ITG Brands formally known as Lolliard for 14 years.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Karl E. Cheek; devoted mother, Marian Moultrie (Joseph); father, Thomas L. Meadors, Jr.; cherished sisters, Chelsea D. Cheek, Chastity Cheek Watkins (Jordan), Tina Galloway (Tyrone), and Brittany Blackwell Pettiford (Willie); brothers, Tommy Blackstock and Michael Blackstock; stepbrothers, Lawrence Moultrie and Joseph Moultrie. Denise will also be lovingly remembered by her grandmother, Dottie Ruth Brown; in-laws, Isidore Cheek (Mandy) and Blanch Walker; nieces, Braylee Pettiford and Aviah Watkins; nephews, Willie Pettiford, Jr. and Amon Elliott; Godchildren, Jaiden and Caidence Stroman and Kelly-Grace and Christian Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 8 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Monday, June 9 at Cathedral of His Glory, 4501 Lake Jeanette Road, Greensboro; visitation with the family begins at 2:30 pm followed by the service at 3:00 pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Livestreaming of the service is available.
