David Laurence Thornton, 60, of Greensboro, departed this world to heavenly paradise on February 23, 2021. Although he may no longer be here in the physical, those that encountered him know he will never be forgotten.

David was born in Chattanooga Tennessee on August 16, 1960 to the late Archie Thornton Jr. and Laura McDonald Thornton where he moved to Greensboro NC at the age of five.

David was a graduate of McKeever High School and a member of Bethel AME Church of Greensboro. He was a God-fearing man that loved to praise God. He was an avid Carolina Panthers and L. A. Lakers fan.  In addition to watching his favorite sports teams he loved to watch Family Feud and listen to his collection of music CD's. David was a long-time employee of Harris Teeter.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Archie (Mackey) Thornton.

He is survived by his sister of the home Ivy LaVergne Watley; niece Lawana M. Best of Greensboro, NC; niece Shante L. Leak of Greensboro, NC; Kelly L. Cobb (Michael B. Cobb Jr.) of Greensboro, NC; nephew Derrick L. Thornton of Chattanooga, TN; niece Tomeshia L. Thornton of Chattanooga, TN; niece Arshieta Thornton of Chattanooga, TN; special friend Della Randolph (Coach) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Due to COVID, the family will hold a private burial.
