Obituary

During the quietness of the night on March 21, 2024 God dispatched one of his special angels to 519 Munster ave, to deliver the gentle soul of his beloved Dale Bennett better known as ACE from the toils of earthly labor to the reward of peaceful eternal rest.

Dale was born in Trio, South Carolina on April 14th, 1956 to the late Alonza Murray Bennett Jr and Rosa McCray Wilson. He moved to Greensboro, North Carolina at an early age where he would begin his legacy.

Dale graduated from James B Dudley high school and continued his education at Jefferson College as well as Guildford Technical Community College. Dale went on to become a machine operator at Tyco Electronics where he remained until his illness made it unmanageable. Dale was a lifelong member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on the L.B. Florence Usher Board at his peak holding the title of Co-Chairman prior to his illness. Dale was a member of the C.W. Lawrence Lodge #837 for 24 years. Dale was an avid sports fan championing for the Carolina Tarheels, Dallas Cowboys, and Los Angeles Lakers. He enjoyed drawing, photography, working in the yard and traveling.

Dale will be greatly missed by all who knew him. But we will not mourn his passing as those without hope, because we know he resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus and a loving, kind, merciful, compassionate, all knowing God.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, brother; Stanley Bennett, maternal grandparents; Albert and Amelia Sabb McCray, parental grandparents; Alonza M. and Belinda E. Bennett; parental and maternal aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Dale was a devoted family man he will forever be cherished by his loving and ardent wife Angela Gunthrop Bennett. Two step children; Warrant Officer V(5) William Carter(Missy), Christine Carter Akins(Camille), Five step grandchildren; William Carter Jr, Destiny Carter, Tristan Carter, Raven Carter and Auri Carter. Loving mother; Rosa McCray Wilson and step father Henry Wilson. Sisters; Belinda Bennnett Smith, Cordelia Bennett, Dori Bennett, and Audrey Bennett Robinson(William) all of Greensboro NC. Special nieces Kershemia Bennett, Durham NC, Amelia Robinson, Kenya Smith, Shalinda Bennett Greensboro, NC. Special nephews Larren Bennett and Larry Chambers of Greensboro NC. One  special great nephew Montez Jacobs. Special great nieces Nyla, Raveen, Lauryn, and Sydney. Special brother/cousin Benjamin Brown(Lynn).

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 27 in Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Thursday, March 28 in New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 408 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Greensboro; visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm.  Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park.
