Crystal Galloway
Marcus
April 20, 1958 – March 22, 2026
Crystal Fontaine Galloway, born April 20, 1958, to Gloria Moria Lee Galloway, graced this world with a presence that will never be forgotten. From the very beginning, Crystal brought light, laughter, and a spirit that drew people in.
She attended Smith High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and made her mark—especially on the basketball courts, where she dominated as many as possible. Her love for the game shone brightly.
Crystal briefly attended NC A&T State University, before beginning a dedicated career as a chemical technician, working with Sedgefield Specialties and Qorvo for over 30 years. All while building a beautiful life as a loving wife to her devoted husband, Elijah Marcus of 46 years, and together they raised two daughters, Gloria Natasha Totton and Kaneesha Fontaine Marcus, who were the pride and joy of her life. She was blessed with two grandchildren Darrius Armand & Nicholas Izaya Totton that were the beacon of her heart.
Within this creation of a new chapter in her life, Crystal didn’t just live life, she celebrated it. She was the legendary host of what felt like 2,100,400 A&T Homecoming parties and nearly a million cookouts throughout her lifetime. Since her family would be “held hostage” to this new type of life, Crystal created adventures wherever she went, turning everyday moments into lifelong memories that her family was elated to be a part of. Needless to say, no one complained. From the simple Gillespie basketball courts to the international waters of Jamaica, Honduras, and Grand Turk, Crystal made sure life was lived to the fullest. Along the way, friends became family, and every shared laugh became part of her legacy.
Crystal had a rare and beautiful gift: she made people feel good about themselves and about life. She reminded everyone that there was no need to carry ill will, and she lived with a heart grounded in faith, in her devoted spiritual heart.
She was preceded in death by mother, Gloria Moria Lee Galloway and grandson, Katrell Elijah Marcus.
Her presence, her warmth, and her unforgettable spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish precious memories her husband, Elijah Marcus; daughters, Gloria Natasha (Robert 'aka Lamont' Totton, Jr.) and Kaneesha Fontaine Marcus; grandchildren, Darrius Armand Totton and Nicholas Izaya Totton; mother-in-law, Emma Marcus; sisters-in- law, Priscilla Marcus, Lillian Wilson, and Linda Marcus; host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
