Mrs. Cornelia Louise Russell Michael was born and raised in Greensboro, NC.  She graduated from Dudley High School and attended Guilford College.  She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church.  She was taught at an early age to love the Lord, and that was her testimony throughout her life.

Mrs. Michael has participated in all aspects of church life.  She served on the Deaconess Board.  She was one of the founding members of Zelmore Headen Helping Hand Club, which provides lunches for Habitat for Humanity.  She was a loyal member of the Sunday School, the Missionary Circle, the Rowan Baptist Association, and the Guilford County Union.  She was also a faithful member of the Otis L. Hairston Senior Family Life Enrichment Center Committee, member of the Fred Huntley Choir, Pianist for the BTU, member of the Floral Club and Den Mother for the Cub Scouts Pack 443 at Shiloh Baptist Church. She was an outstanding example of a Christian Woman.

Mrs. Michael's involvement extends throughout the community.  She was a lifetime member of the NAACP, where she served on the Executive Board.  She helped start a Neighborhood Watch Program in her community.  She was a member of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority and a lifetime member of the OES Magnolia Chapter 23.

She was noted for her continuing participation with Church Women United, where she served on the Ecumenical Action Committee and the Executive Board.

Mrs. Michael was married to the late James W. Michael for over 60 years.  She leaves to cherish her precious memories, daughter Mrs. Glorinda M. Brown and a host of relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Maplewood Cemetery, 235 Bingham Street, Greensboro at 11:00 am.
