Corey Nicholas Lowe arrived from heaven on June 12, 1993. Corey went home to heaven on Friday, November 13, 2015, after fighting a good fight, with his eyes on the prize.
Corey attended Bessemer Elementary School and Kiser Middle School as a child. He graduated with honors from Dudley High School in 2012. He attended GTCC in 2012-2013. He worked briefly for Hargett Funeral Home. Corey was a member of Godly Faith Christian Center for most of his life. He dearly loved his Godly Faith family.
Corey was an amazing person, with a wise old soul. He never allowed the disease that ravaged his body to dampen his spirit. He was an encourager. He always thought of others before himself.
Corey loved God, his family, and football (in that order). He was an avid sports fan of all sports. His favorite teams were the Carolina Panthers, the UNC Tar Heels, the Miami Heat, and the Oregon Ducks. He also loved life. He was interested in everything and everyone. Even on his most challenging day, he was more concerned with others than himself. He showed the love of Christ to everyone he met. He always chose to see the best in others while covering their faults with his love.
Corey had a special bond with his mother, Jennifer. The two of them tackled everyday together and discussed everything. She was his greatest champion and he was hers.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Matthew and Mary Louise Gardner and Hazel Martin.
Corey is survived by his mother, Jennifer Lowe of the home; father, Steven Martin of Martinsville, VA; sisters, Cheyenne Lowe of the home and Erica Hancock of Rocky Mount, VA; brother, Jaquay Jones of the home; grandparents, Bobby Joe and Deborah Lowe of Greensboro, NC and Douglas and Thelma Martin of Martinsville, VA; uncles, Jonathan Lowe of Asheboro, NC and Joey Martin of Martinsville, VA, and a host of friends and relatives too numerous to mention.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, November 15, 2015 at Genesis Baptist Church, 2812 E. Bessemer Ave., Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family begins at 11:00 am followed by the service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Madison, NC.
