Charles Edward Martin, affectionately known as "Charbo" to many, passed away on April 21, 2023, at the age of 76 in Greensboro, NC, where he was born and raised. He was a loving husband to his wife Carol, and a devoted father to his sons Kenyatta and Tafari. Charles was also a proud grandfather to Ayodele and Negasi.

Charles attended Washington Elementary School and Lincoln Middle School, graduating from Dudley High School in 1964. He went on to attend Cortez Peters Business College and North Carolina A&T State University.

Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, stationed in Germany and Vietnam. He was a proud veteran, and his military associations were an important part of his life.

He worked several jobs to support his family from carpentry, to roofing to driving commercial trucks. He later found a career home as the Warehouse Manager for Hunt & Co. He was known for his exceptional work ethic and leadership skills.

Charles was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending afternoons on the lake every spring and summer. He created countless memories and shared several life-lessons out on the pond with his children and extended family.

Charles will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Carol, sister Theresa, sons Kenyatta and Tafari, grandchildren Ayodele and Negasi and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosetta, father Luther, brother Donald, and sister Shirley.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 4pm at Hargett Funeral Home, located at 905 E Market St in Greensboro, NC. Viewing will be available to the public on Saturday April 29, 2023 from 9am-3pm. Any donations to the family can be sent via CashApp to $TMartin83
