A Life of Love, Family, Music, and Memories

Charles Edward Davis, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life on August 7, 2026, at the age of 76. A beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Charles leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his love, his presence, and the many memories they shared.

Charles was born on June 7, 1950, in Bessemer, Alabama. Throughout his life, he carried with him a strong sense of family and an appreciation for the simple joys that make life meaningful.

Charles was a hardworking man who spent many years of his professional life leading as a warehouse manager for Lentz Inc., until its closing. He understood the importance of responsibility, providing for family, and taking pride in a job well done.

There was also a joyful side to Charles that those who knew him will always remember. He loved music and he loved to dance. Music brought him happiness, and when the right song came on, Charles could enjoy the moment and let the music move him- even during his illness. His family will remember not only the man he was, but the sound of his laughter, his favorite songs, his dancing, and the unmistakable presence he brought into a room.

Above all, Charles’s greatest legacy is his family.

He was the proud father of two daughters, Schenita Davis Randolph of Mebane, North Carolina, and Shalanda Bell of Detroit, Michigan. His daughters shared a special bond with their father and lovingly call themselves “Charlie’s Angels.”

He leaves to cherish his memory his son-in-law, Dante Randolph of Mebane, North Carolina, and four beloved grandchildren: Diontae Bell of Los Angeles, California; Marcelus Gray of Detroit, Michigan; and Joshua Randolph and Kaelyn Randolph of Mebane, North Carolina. Through his grandchildren, Charles’s legacy continues into another generation.

Charles also leaves to cherish his memory, his former wife and friend, Glenda Ward Davis of Mt. Olive, NC, his beloved mother, Louise Davis; sister-in-law, Cindy Davis; his niece and nephew, Claretta Davis and Carlton Davis, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Charles was followed in death by his beloved brother, Carl Davis, of Winston Salem NC who passed away just five days after. They shared a special bond and cared for one another deeply.

He shared a special relationship with his aunt, Lois Abrams of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and cousin, Yvette Abrams of New York, along with many other relatives, loved ones, and friends whose lives were touched by his presence.

The measure of a man’s life is found not only in the years he lived, but also in what remains after he is gone. Charles leaves behind a legacy found in his daughters, reflected in his grandchildren, remembered by his family, and carried forward through generations.

There will be songs that bring Charles immediately to mind. There will be family gatherings when someone remembers something he said or did. There will be moments of laughter when a favorite story is told again. And perhaps, when the music begins to play, there will be smiles through the tears as those who loved him remember how Charles danced as only he could.

While his family mourns his physical absence, they remain grateful for the gift of his 76 years of life and for every memory they were blessed to share with him.

His earthly journey has ended, but his love remains.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 23 in the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro at 3:00 pm.
