Carl Jones, affectionately known as "Plunkie," was born on June 26, 1947, in Greensboro, NC, to Viola Moorehead-Jones and John Paul Jones Sr. He peacefully departed this life on March 21, 2024, in Hillsborough, NJ, with his loving daughter Nicole Risher by his side.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Viola and John Paul Jones Sr., and his siblings: Bertha Miller, John Paul Jones, Alice Jones, Frances Jones, and Lois Johnson. Carl Lee Jones is survived by his devoted daughter Nicole Risher, son-in-law Eddie Risher, and cherished grandchildren Kya, Miles, and EJ Risher. He is also survived by his stepchildren Caroline Kirkland and Michael Cain, step-grandchildren Sidney Cain, Michelle Cain, Michael Cain Jr., Ebony Skinner, and Anjee Cain, nephew/little brother Haywood "Woody" Miller, and cousin/little sister Shirley Simmons. He will be dearly missed by his grandson-in-law Umar Childs and Jabari Ray, along with a host of nieces and nephews whom he held close to his heart. He held a special fondness for his niece Eitelle Ford and Nephew Ricky Jones. He also leaves his special friend Eloise "Pepper" Curry of Newark NJ.

Carl Lee Jones was a proud member of the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1972.

A memorial service/wake will be held at Buckland Funeral Home in Somerville, NJ, on March 26, 2024 from 6-8pm. Following this, Carl will be taken home to Greensboro, NC. Public viewing of Mr. Jones is 1:30 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. Wednesday the 03rd in Hargett Funeral Services 905 East Market Street Greensboro, NC. Visitation with the family and homegoing service is 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. respectively Thursday April 04, 2024 in Persimmons Grove Church 403 Dolley Madison Road Greensboro, NC.

Carl "Plunkie" Jones will be remembered for his personality, love for his family, and the unique way he was able to connect to those around him. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
