Obituary

Brian Eric Winston Lynhurst St. Clair was born September 7, 1957 to Winston and Sheila St. Clair in San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago. Brian was the youngest of three children. Brian was a veteran of the armed forces. He served a total of 34 years in the United Stated Army, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He fought in two wars, Desert Shield/Storm and the Global War on Terror. He did a total of three tour of duties in Iraq. He was proud to serve his country and fight for the rights and freedoms that Americans enjoy daily. As an American citizen he made a point of sharing with all those he encountered his love for the armed forces and his accomplishments while serving as an active duty serviceman, which included receiving the following recognitions: National Defense Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal – Saudi Arabia, Army Commendation Medal 2 nd OLC, Army Achievement Medal, South West Asia Service Medal Bronze Service Star 2, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Lapel Button, Army Good Conduct Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

As much as Brian enjoyed talking military life and his exploits while in service, there was something he loved talking about even more: his home country of Trinidad & Tobago. Brian was what all who knew him would describe as "Trini" through and through. Being Trinidadian wasn't just in his blood, it was in the make-up of his demeanor and character. In true Trinidadian fashion, Brian was loud, headstrong, argumentative, knew a lot about everything, and could party with the best of them. He had a zeal for life that was contagious. The pride he bore in representing Trinidad as an American citizen could be seen in his smile and definitely in his dress. Born with the gift of gab he was never short of words or stories describing his homeland. Stories of white sand beaches, dancing to steel drums at Carnival, rigorous schooling, a love for family, and a deeply rooted faith in Jesus. Brian would visit Trinidad a few times a year to take care of his family home, catch up with friends and family, and to never loose touch with his roots.

In addition to loving his homeland, he also loved his family and would do whatever was necessary to provide and make sure they had the best. He epitomized hard work and was adamant that getting an education was the key to life's success. Growing up he would often tell his children, "You are in America. There's nothing you can't do with an education."

Brian is survived by his wife, Angela and their three children: Ty Russell (Tanya), Alana Russell, and Ayana Russell.

Brian was previously joined to Karen St. Clair and their union produced five children: Candice LesPierre, Nicole Muhammad, Randy St. Clair (Heather), Crystal Best (Antyuan), and Brian St. Clair (Crystal).

He was preceded in death by his mother and father: Winston and Sheila St. Clair and his son, Brian St. Clair. His memory will live on in his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, a host of cousins, and friends.
