Obituary

Betty Faye Funderburk was born on July 21, 1952, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and peacefully transitioned home on February 14, 2025 after a brief illness.

Faye was a proud Greensboro native who attended Caldwell Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, Dudley High School, and later graduated from Page High School. After graduation, she began her career as a telephone operator with Southern Bell, which later became BellSouth and AT&T, where she dedicated 30 years of service. She also did seasonal work at Belk's Department Store where she met her beloved Keith Williams. Even after retiring, Faye's hard working spirit never wavered. She went on to work at Greensboro Gynecology for an additional 10 years before taking on various roles, including becoming a CNA with Home Instead and working at Page High School's cafeteria, among others.

Faye was full of life and found joy in traveling, attending plays and outdoor concerts, spending time with family, walking at the YMCA, and bargain hunting. She had a warm and welcoming personality that made her a friend to all who crossed her path. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she remained a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church since childhood, where she found community and spiritual fulfillment.

Faye was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Etta Mae Funderburk; her brothers, Ralph Funderburk and Scottie Bailey; and her dear son, Jeremy Sean Funderburk.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 36 years, Keith Williams; her cherished brother, Tony Bailey (Vanita); as well as numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong childhood friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Hargett Funeral Service, Inc., 905 E. Market Street, Greensboro from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
