IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrena G.
Montgomery
December 11, 1929 – December 1, 2020
On December 1, 2020, Andrena Louise Gray Montgomery passed away peacefully under the loving care of her daughter Maxine. Her memorial service will be held virtually via Zoom followed by a private burial at a later date. Please contact the family for login information if you would like to attend her service virtually.
She was born December 11, 1929 to parents Andrew and Martha Gray. Andrena grew up in Charleston, SC, attended Simenton Elementary School and later graduated from Burke High School in 1948. In 1951, Andrena married the love of her life Albert Montgomery, and moved to Washington, D.C. where they raised three children: Maxine, Albert Jr. and Anthony Montgomery. Sixteen years later, she learned of Jehovah's promises in his word the Bible and dedicated her life to him in baptism as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 25, 1967.
In the mid 1980's, she moved to Greensboro, NC to be closer to family. It was there that she was able to expand her spiritual family. As a dedicated witness of Jehovah, she enjoyed pioneering in the ministry with many friends and conducting bible studies with interested ones. Outside of her love for spiritual pursuits was her love for food. Those that knew Andrena knew that she loved to cook. Some of her specialties that stayed in high demand were her infamous pound cake and "Hoppin John". In every way, she will truly be missed.
Andrena was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Martha Gray; brothers, Robert, Vernon, Ervin and Andrew Gray; sister, Marthalee Coaxum; beloved husband, Albert Montgomery; and eldest son, Albert Montgomery, Jr.
Surviving relatives include daughter Maxine Bennerman (Sterlin Bennerman); son, Anthony Montgomery (Kendra Montgomery); grandchildren, Teisha Bennerman, Sheena Mouton, and Amanda Montgomery; great grandchildren, Alex and Jada Faircloth, Amari Mouton and Anchor Montgomery. She will also be missed by many other loving relatives, close friends, and a large spiritual family.
