Andrea Dianne
Ravenell
December 24, 1955 – March 5, 2026
Andrea Dianne “Bunny” Ravenell was born December 24, 1955 in Greensboro, NC to the late Joe Nathan and Doris Hughes Ravenell. She received her heavenly wings on March 5, 2026. She was known for her kindness, generosity, strength, grace and her mischievous spirit.
She was educated in the Greensboro Public Schools and attended Johnson C Smith University in Charlotte, NC. Andrea worked at the United States Postal Service until her health declined resulting in her retirement.
She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. Her baking skills were not as good, many flop cakes were thrown out. She loved coconut cake, peanut butter crackers, and sweet iced tea. When her mobility declined, you would hear your name being called or your phone would ring to bring her snacks, something to drink or sit her up in bed. This would go on all day every 30 minutes or so. One day her granddaughter Ari’Yahna told her, “grandma are worrisome” to which she replied “I love you”. Her son Corey and his girlfriend Montasia took excellent care of her although she would get on their nerves. Every now and then she would want to get out of the house and they would ride her all over Greensboro. Whenever she would have a taste for any type of food, they would get it for her even if it meant driving to Winston Salem, Burlington, Lexington or High Point.
Andrea liked music, dancing, singing off key, and catching up with her classmates and coworkers. She had every episode of Perry Mason and Andy Griffith recorded and watch them on repeat every day and night. True to family tradition, she loved all sports, Dallas Cowboys the only NFL football team, college basketball, golf, NASCAR and figure skating to name a few.
Andrea was proceeded in death by her brothers, Jonathan and Duncan.
She leaves to cherish her memories her beloved son, Corey (Montasia); granddaughter, Ari’Yahna; grandson, Corey; sisters, Lorraine and Chandra; cousin-sisters, Carol Waddell and Patricia Wiseman; nieces, Dr. Juana Mendenhall (Angel), Erica Patton (Renita), and Demetria Ravenell; nephew, Mintrel Abney (Gail); aunts, Elizabeth Wooten and Earnestine Haizlip (Joe); uncle, Marion McClary, Sr.; special friends, Yolanda Mendenhall and Carolyn Floyd Robinson; and a host of other relatives,, Terra Cotta family, and many other friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, March 20 at Cedar Grove Tabernacle of Praise, 612, Norwalk Street, Greensboro; visitation with the family begins at 11:30 am followed by the service at 12:00 pm.
Livestreaming will be available on Cedar Grove's TOP Facebook and Youtube pages.
